Stay at the Venetian and make reservations for dinner at Michael's in the Barbary Coast Hotel, you won't regret it but take alot of money.
Aloha!

I am a Wynn girl but if you want middle of the road, I would do Paris or Luxor on the strip or the Venetian or MGM would be a good deal.. End of March can book up quickly because of conventions and you don't want to pay the prices of a 3 star at 5 star price if you wait and book late.. The Scintas at the Rio is a Fab show as well as Le Reve at the Wynn.
Have fun with your new husband in Vegas!

We visit Las Vegas several times a year, due to my husband's job and we have stayed at many middle of the road resorts. I would recommend The Mirage, Treasure Island or the MGM. I personally, like the MGM because it has such a terrifc choice of fabulous resturants. The MGM and Treasure Island are closer to the other upscale resorts and shopping. I would like to stay at Paris, The Venitian or The Bellagio, but alas, it is not in the business budget. Enjoy your trip!

We have been to Vegas many times (in fact, we were married there!). Like almost anywhere, it's all about location. Choose the middle of the strip....anywhere from Treasure Island and The Wynn on the north end, to Paris and Monte Carlo on the South end. MGM is way too far south and way, way, way too big IMHO. We love Paris and the Venetian, but have stayed at TI (twice) Bally's (twice), Imperial Palace (twice) and the Mirage. All are decent, clean hotels that offer a good product for the money. However, I didn't care for the Mirage so much due to the narrow, crowded walk to the guest elevators. Please try to grab a bite at the crepe place in Paris/Bally's and/or the restuarant right behind....it is a real gem. They have a nice, moderately priced menu and waiters who sing beautiful Italian love songs! Enjoy your trip.

Brother and I are going to be in L.V. for my 50th on March 30. We will be staying at Paris or the Flamingo. In the past I have checked in at the airport for the Flamingo. I think that you can also check in for Paris, Bally's, and Caesar's at the same spot.

I just called and booked Paris (two "free" nights). The res agent confirmed that Paris, Bally's, Caesar's, and Flamingo have the same check-in place. Since Harrah's just bought those properties they might offer airport check-in at the same spot soon.

If MGM Grand has airport check-in then I would assume that applies to Bellagio and the co-owned properties too.

Lenore, we got married in Vegas too; at The Little White Chapel. We've been to Vegas many times too. Our favorite hotel is The Venetian. The suites at Mandalay Bay are beautiful, but we don't like that end of the strip. Bally's and Paris are in a good location too.

wherever you stay I cannot impress on you the fact that you have to try Michael's at the Barbary Coast Hotel for dinner. You must have reservations as they only have two servings every evening...I think 6:00 and 9:00...you won't be disappointed I guanrantee it.
Aloha!

Small world Sunshine! We also got married at the Little White Wedding Chapel. Our 15 year anniversary is this May, so we're doing a cruise out of San Francisco to the Mexican Riviera. Can't wait!

In November we found a fantastic deal at the Venetian for my husband's 40th birthday. Our suite was great! We bought discount show tickets at the Coke place and 24 hour bus passes on the Duece to travel up and down the Strip.

I've gone to Las Vegas at least yearly since 1970 and had good and bad experiences at most of the hotels mentioned.I've also discovered that I can get really good prices on the hotel website- often they will tell you what nights are cheaper (usually Tues/Wed.) So I would check websites and see what attracts you personally. But I had to tell you about a website that I think is hysterical called Cheapo Vegas. They take an alternate view in their reviews, like where you get the best hotel room freebies and whether the price is worth the experience. The website is www.cheapovegas.com or google cheapo las vegas and I'm sure it will be there.Check it out and you're sure to get a laugh!

I agree that the Paris is great but it's more economical to stay at Bally's which is attached to the Paris hotel by a really cool, indoor walkway and it's less expensive and more like 'old' Vegas. I stayed at the Sahara more recently that I stayed at Bally's and absolutel did not like it. Shabby and less than clean.

As you can see from the responses, there are tons of options. Based upon your age and other things you have mentioned, I suggest Bally's. It is 'middle of the road' in many respects.
Personally, I like a few other places better, but Bally's has a great location, sizeable standard rooms, and you should be able to get rates of less than $200 even though it is a weekend. It isn't as trendy or fast paced as some of the others.
I love the Mirage, but the walkway from the front to the elevators might as well be a battle zone - it is rare that my girlfriend and I don't get bumped or jostled somewhere along the way. Everyone is going somewhere in a hurry and they don't care if they bump into anyone or not.

Visit the Bally's website to see if they have any special offers available. You can probably get a slight discount on the room and some dining credits or discounts.

If you are a AAA member, you can get 10% discount off of the standard room rates from Bally's, Flamingo, Mirage, Paris, and Treasure Island.

Good Luck,
Mark

I agree with the poster about the Bally's and Sahara comment. Bally's rooms are great, it's an easy walk via an enclosed walkway/ shopping arcade to Paris, and in the moderate price. If someone wants to go budget, pick Circus Circus or off strip (I like Orleans & Gold Coast). Avoid the Sarhara. Shabby is an understatement. I've never stayed at the Monte Carlo, but if you can get a decent deal go for it. I have friends who rave about it.

AAA 10% discounts are only available is the rate is not a promotional/special rate.

Paris...definitely...for all the reasons you already know...by the way, once you are in the baggage claim area, you can check in for the Paris while you await your bags...You'll have your keys in your hand..no wait at all...fun little secret.. Enjoy!!! Oh yes, the lobster bisque soup at Onda's in the Mirage is a MUST EAT!!! It's not on the menu..it's an intheknow treat!!!

About rates, sometimes the internet/ search engine rates are lower than AAA. And sometimes calling the hotel is better than all of the above. Ask for the best/ lowest rate.
