Oops, I'm sorry, I never posted the link:

I have won hotels too when the website said it was sold out, mostly Marriott brands, but I just wanted to post there is a fair possibility that may not be the hotel.

I have a friend that lives in Las Vegas and she suggested that I say away from the downtown area. I'm still willing to look into it as an option.

Thanks for all of the helpful websites. I'll continue to go over them once I'm off of work. I don't care if its a 3* or a 2*. Just somewhere that isn't rotting and falling apart, showers, and an okay bed to sleep on. Ideally I'd love to go back to the Monte Carlo but they're out of my price range as well.

Lots of people have posted here about staying downtown if you want to do a search. And maybe see whether your friend has a specific reason. One thing - it will cost a fair bit to get back and forth to the strip for the PBR World Championship from downtown, so that will negate some of your savings.

Another thought - have you considered staying on Saturday and Sunday nights instead of Friday and Saturday? Not sure if that will work for your schedule, but the Tropicana has rooms Saturday for $150 and Sunday for $61, so not much over $100/night average.

One other thing to think about - are you planning on all sharing a room? The extra person charges (beyond two people) can be quite high in vegas, and using priceline you cannot guarantee a room for more than 2 people.

tripReservations.com has a few choices for those weekend that come in at around $100 per night....watch out for their cancellation policies as they are sometimes much more strict than when you book directly with a hotel.

Stardust, Riviera and Imperial Palace are all good choices, Imperial has the better location center strip but Stardust & Riviera are right next to the new WYNN RESORT and an easy walk to Venetian, TI, Mirage, Caesars. Stardust probably has the larger rooms if you are fitting 3 girls into one room.

Gold Coast is $84 a night on orbitz.com......$55 a night on Sunday nights via their own website. Not sure if their rooms have two DOUBLE beds or two queens. Nice location with the Rio & Palms across the street & all the free shuttles.

One that hasn't been mentioned is The Tuscany. It's off-strip, but to the east and closer to the UNLV campus & Thomas and Mack. (Isn't that where the Championship is held?)

Another one is the Hotel Alexis (or just the Alexis, I can't remember) is east of the strip & close to UNLV.

Both might be cheaper, since they're off-strip. The Tuscany is much newer, but Alexis is nice- there's no casino so it's less hectic. I'm not sure about shuttles to the strip for either one, so you might have to factor in taxi costs as well.

I'm starting to sort through all suggestions right now and am slowly getting back to all of them.

We can't stay Sunday night because my two friends are teachers and since they're just starting out they are refusing to take a day off for anything.

Yes we're sharing a room so I'm hoping against hope to get a room with 2 double beds, I probably should have specified that earlier, sorry.

I really appreicate all the help, I'll post back once I've gotten through everything so far.

I think you're going to get the best hotel for the money on priceline.com and you can request 2 beds, no problem. If there are more than 2 in a room just have 2 check in BUT request an extra key "incase one of you loses yours". It is not a problem at all.

petlover - With that apparently being a high-occupancy weekend in vegas, you may well leave them sleeping one person on the floor with that advice. You can request two beds, but you might not get it.

Tulea - check these websites out - "i4vegas.com" and "vegas.com" - both have great rates. Since you're here for the PBR, you might get a good rate at the New Frontier - not a luxury place, but Gilley's is quite a draw for the rodeo crowd. I live in Las Vegas and stayed there for a weekend a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it. Nothing fancy, but great pool area and close to everything - across the street from Wynn. Just a suggestion.... good luck and have fun.

Have you checked rates for the Las Vegas Hilton? It's barely off strip and connected by the monorail now. It's always my favorite place to go. The buffet isn't great, but you can't beat the rooms and location for the price if you're looking for something clean, relatively quiet, and close to the strip. It also has a taxi stand, as do most of the hotels in the area.
