Las Vegas monorail question
I know that the free monorail between MGM and Bally's is now part of the ticketed monorail system. But are you still able to ride the free tram from Mandalay Bay-Luxor-Excalibur and/or Monte Carlo-Bellagio? Thanks!

Oooh - good question! If no one answers, I'll be finding out this weekend.... can you tell that I'm Jonesin' for some Vegas gambling, or what?? hahaha. Good thing I don't get paid until AFTER the trip... now I have less money to throw away this weekend.

This should answer your question:

BTW: It looked to me like the Mandalay Bay/Luxor/Excalibur tram was a "towed" tram - meaning no motors on the trains themselves - so it is definitely it's own seperate system.

The MB-Excalibur version continues on for free (it is actually a belt run arrangement). The Bellagio to Monte Carlo has been shut down for about the past year and still is, due to construction going at the Bellagio. I believe the Mirage-TI is operating.
The MGM to Bally's is no more, replaced by the new monorail.

LordBalfor!!!! Good to see you around here! Remember me? Cook Islands last Nov/Dec.... I still visit TT every so often to give my two cents on the Cooks. As you can see, we're planning a domestic trip later this year (DC) so that's why I'm on Fodors again...

According to the news this morning, the monorail is in its final stages of testing. If all goes well today, it could be running again as early as tomorrow (December 22). They are hoping to get it running before the NYE crush of visitors.
