Las Vegas - MGM or Treasure Island?

When staying in Las Vegas is the MGM Grand Hotel or Treaure Island better? I am travelling with my partner and no children. Are both close to the 'action'? Is it worth spending a bit more money for a good hotel? Do either have any specific great attractions? I am a big kid at heart so both look good. If anyone has any personal insight into these hotels or any others that are good value, close to the action and fun, let me know. Thanks

I am staying at the MGM Grand in December- I can let you know how I liked it but I will tell you they are both close to the action and after reading everything in this forum heard several comments that Treasure Island is in need of a facelift. I was surprised because I didn't think it was that old. We read about MGM grand on their website, saw pictures of the rooms and called them and they were the more helpful of the two so we picked them!

both the MGM and Treasure Island are very expensive.
I liked the MGM, it was a very nice (big) hotel, and
expensive. The Luxor is VERY nice, and can be less
expensive, be sure to request a room in the tower
it's nicer than staying in the pyramid. The Monte Carlo is also very nice, and sometimes less expensive. They are all very close to the MGM, although Treasure Island is in the middle of the strip. MGM, Luxor, etc... is on the south end, but very walkable. I have done it many times !!

I would stay downtown at the Golden Nugget
as it is a VERY nice facility at very reasonable
rates. You can rent a car and go to the strip and see some different sites while you are there.
Email me direct if you want some more detailed
info on the Nugget.

You should be happy with both of these hotels. Each one is at different ends of the strip and are both surrounded by "cool" hotels you will want to see for sure. If you choose tye Treasure Island be in the mood for the pirate thing! Fun! The MGM is really big and nice too. We stayed at the Monte Carlo last April. The staff was grumpy and not helpful at all. However, be sure and go the Lance Burton, the magician there. The hotel is beautiful and his show gives you the most bang for your dollar. ($35) He is FANTASTIC for adults and kids.

I would stay at the Golden Nugget too. I prefer to stay downtown. We rent a car to go to the strip. Between the MGM and T.I. I've stayed at the T.I. it was very nice. The MGM just seems to big to me. It takes forever just to walk through the place. Have fun and good luck where ever you choose to stay.

The MGM is sooo big. You could be walking around in there forever. I think that is probably the place to stay with kids, but without I think I would choose Treasure Island. It's in the middle of the strip. Before the Pirate show, you can go in the bar and buy a drink and watch the show from there. Both hotels have neat gift shops and you could probably get a good deal at either, but if I had to choose I would go with TI.
