Las Vegas in September

Amita -
A customer of mine stayed there and said it was very drab compared to the hotels on the strip. I must admit, I have not stayed there myself (nor have I ever been) I just know what she told me.
In my opinion, (we go to Vegas about once a month so we know the place fairly well) you can get better rooms at midweek rates on the strip which would be a much better experience, value, and location than San Remo.
What kind of rate are you looking to pay? Also, what types of things are you planning on doing? Shows, restaurants, day-trips, lounge around the pool, gamble, etc. I might be able to make a few suggestions.
As a for instance - We just stayed at the Four Seasons on Monday the 3rd (3 days ago) for $130. Yes, $130! We lucked out while looking on vegashoteldeals.com and caught a great rate for what was going to be a slow day for them. We hadn't even planned on going anywhere for the 4th but couldn't resist that! The place is usually $350. This is what I mean by not jumping the gun on San Remo. You may be able to find a much better place for not that much more money. Of course, I don't know what rate you were getting for San Remo. If is was $19 it might be O.K.!
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Lynn,
We actually did go ahead and book at the San Remo. We got a mid-week rate of $49/night, which is the price range we were looking for. The San Remo got some good customer reviews from LVOL.com, and we were looking for something a little low-key for our first visit there. We'll be there for 4 nights, so we'll have plenty of time to look at the other hotels and see if we like them better.
I would very much appreciate any suggestions regarding shows, day trips, etc. We want to rent a car and drive someplace for a day, probably to Red Rock Canyon, but I'm open to suggestions. We also want to see a show or two, but the choices are overwhelming. No, we're not even sure what kind of show we want to see, preferably a classic cheap, tacky Vegas show. We thought we'd wait until we get there and see which ones we can get deals on.
I'm not much of a gambler but I'll probably hit the slots, and I'll hang out by the pool a bit but I know I'll want to spend most of my time checking everything out. And I keep hearing about the great restaurants out there.
Thanks again for your help...it's nice to get some input from a veteran!

Hi again Amita,
September weather in Las Vegas isn't bad, I personally like the "hot" side of things so it doesn't bother me. I'm from PA so the low humidity is a plus on hot days. If you are a hiker I'm sure you will manage fine in September! Have a GREAT time.

Hi Amita,
We went to LV in Dec. and I fell in love with it. Not much of a gambler and I realized you can go there and never play a table or slot. There is so..much sightseeing, check out each hotels themes, Paris is my favorite as well as the Venetion!! Wear comfortable sneakers/shoes, the strip is longer than it appears and the hotels are actually further apart than you think (thats due to the flatness I think). We went to a time share spiel just for the free tickets, we got two tickets to a show at the stratus, two tickets to the lookout there, and 1/2 off 2 airplane & bus tours tru the grand canyon - That only cost us $60.00 each and was the total highlight of our trip!! You can wheel and deal with them for the 'free stuff'. We got summond off the street across from our hotel, Treasure Island - if you do it, look for the 'Ramada timeshare' it takes 1-1/2 hrs of your time, just keep to your 'no ans.' Can't wait to go back myself!! You'll have a great time.

Amita, Did you know that the San Remo is not on the strip? After many visits over a 17 years I finally went into the San Remo last year to see what it looked like. It was dark and deserted. This is not what I would hope for any one I know to see for a first impression of Las Vegas. There are so many options avaialable. I am sure you can be "low key" on the strip. After 4 days you will probably wish you had been in a better location.
Do yourself a favor and reconsider your options.
