Las Vegas in Nov
Hi, am trying to book a surprise trip to LV for my husband's birthday, from Nov 10th-13th. Trying to find one of the newer hotels on the Strip (we have stayed at MGM & NY,NY a few years ago, wanted to try something new) but everything is terribly expensive, something must be going on that weekend. Just wanted to see if anyone had any tips on how to find better rates or knew of any promotions at that time. After that rates are high for thanksgiving & don't seem to drop until the first weekend in Dec. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was actually just looking at that weekend in Vegas, as my b-day is 11/9. You may want to look into off strip, Orleans and Gold coast are what I'm looking into (www.orleanscasino.com). On that web site, you can also check rates for the Gold Coast. I know you want on the strip, and a newer property. But if you want to keep the budget under control, thinking a little out of the box may help.

I just checked hotels.com and expedia.com. The only halfway reasonable rates that weekend look North Strip, Downtown and Off Strip. I've found that October/November and March/May weekends are very steep on the strip. It's the best time weather wise in LV.

Conventions drive the prices up. Basically there are no "deals" in Vegas anymore except the odd week or day here and there. You can do a check to see what conventions (at what hotels) are in town the week you are interested in.

The main issue here is the weekend dates. You're competing with conventioneers staying the weekend and making sure that do something that has to Stay in Vegas, as well as a lot of Californians getting out of Dodge for the weekend. Orleans is just off-Strip and a good option.
However, you should go and register at the website of every hotel you're interested in, and you might luck out with specials from their periodic e-mails. I'm always getting great rates from Mirage, for one example.
Have you also looked into package deals from the airlines?
