Las Vegas in April

We are planning to spend a few days at the Flamingo in Las Vegas this April - I have no idea what the weather is like this time of year - is it shorts or more spring-like (pants)- We are planning to see Lance Burton - is this a good choice? I have two children 13 and 16 - what do you think they would like?

My husband and I went to Vegas last April and this past February and we love it there. We left our four children at home but there is things for kids. Last April the temps were 100 degress F but the average is in the 80's definately bring shorts. I am from Canada and without the humitity it did not feel like 100. Cools off nice at night too. You pretty much can't gamble with the kids with you, the security at all casinos forbid by law that anyone under 21 can't go near a machine or even stand to watch they will move you along. There is however, other things for kids such as Treasure Island Pirate show, dancing water at the Bellergio, go to NYNY for the rollercoaster, adventuredome at Circus Circus, bowling and theaters at the Orleans hotel, Madame Tussands Wax museum, Wet and Wild park, Danny Gans is a good impersonator and a family show, go to Fremont Street the kids will like this. It is a street with a canopy of lights over it that show pictures and music truly entertaining. Haven't seen Lance Burton but anything in Vegas for shows is usually worth seeing. Have fun!

Consider going to the Rio for a lunch buffet. They have several food stations - many of which cater to typical food choices of children and teenagers. While you're at the Rio make sure to head over to the side of the casino where they have a free show to watch. It's Mardi Gras style and quite entertaining - particularly since it's free.

Lance Burton is a good show but I would think Sigfreid and Roy or the wonderful Mystere would appeal to them much more. Mystere is something that everyone loves and even though it is expensive no one says that it was not worth it.

Casino's sometimes are kept SO COLD to keep the gamblers awake. Bring a hooded sweatshirt for all family members. I always need one at breakfast. We will be there too in April and I am bringing jeans and shorts with layers. Check out cheapovegas.com for a good run down of the Flamingo and places to eat. They are on the money about those two things.lvol.com is a wonderful informative spot as well. The Flamingo Hilton has a great pool and a good location. Smoke bothers me there though but in Vegas that is to be expected. Your kids will like the new Desert Sands Mall...it has a storm blow thru and lots of entertainment. Have a great time. You can e-mail me if you like.

We went to Las Vegas last April and the weather was great. It was warm around 90 degrees but very comfortable. We stayed at Mandalay Bay. My son who was 11, loved the pools. We swam every day. There was plenty to do, the Pirate show at Treasure Island, At Mirage we saw the dolphins and tigers, the M&M factory, Gameworks, etc. Have a great time.
