las vegas in 3 nights
Something went wrong when my previous post when national instead of local! Anyhow, I'm looking for help with dining in a nice, though not overly expensive (under $100 for two) restaurant for dinner as I'm sure we have to make reservations now for March. how about breakfast and lunch? Also, I'd be interested in hearing about peoples' favorite casinos (for slots, craps roulette and baccarat). This is a quick 3 night get-away for us and first time in LV for my husband and I. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't been to LV for a few years now, but I remember a fantastic buffet at the top of the Rio Hotel. It wasn't too expensive, and had everything from Prime Rib and lobster tails to crab legs to spaghetti! Another buffet we enjoyed was at the Paris Hotel, but I think it was a little pricey. Best desserts I've ever had!
I enjoyed gambling at Harrah's b/c of the fun atmosphere.
I personally think a visit to "old Las Vegas" is a must. You can take a bus or a cab, and it's only a 10 minute ride from the strip.

Be sure to check out the Wynn hotel. The casino is massive and the hotel is just gorgeous. We had very good luck at craps there, for what it's worth.
The Party Pit at Harrah's casino is a blast.
Other than that, there really aren't "favorite" casinos because you casino hop all day long. When you're on a lucky streak, stay put. If not, off to the next hotel!

I just returned from a convention in Las Vegas. Although the Stratosphere was just ok as a hotel you might want to ride to the top for a night time view of the city and a close up look at those scary rides. I liked their breakfast restaurant- Lucky's and friend's liked their 50s restaurant for dinner. Dinner in their revolving restaurant Top of the Tower was pricey. Good salad but limited choices for entrees and a $30 min per person. (Some of our group were thinking of just getting appetizer and dessert.) We had time for one big show and it was Le Reve. I had never seen a Cirque du Soleil type show and this was absolutely amazing. If you have time for shopping, there's a great variety of stores and shops at the Fashion Show Mall which you can get to via Trolley ($2 fare one way). A big mistake I made leaving Las Vegas was planning to have lunch at the airport and then buy a sandwich for the plane. The airport has a very poor selection of food places if you don't want MacDonalds or Subway. Happy Anniversary.
