Las Vegas hotel w/11 yr old girl

I want to take my 11 yr old daughter to Las Vegas for her birthday. No gambling, but would like to take in a Cirque show, a magic show, and maybe Celine Dion if we go later in April or May. The hotel situation is overwhelming. I am debating just skipping the casino hotel madness and splurging (big time for us) on the Four Seasons since we won't be gambling and could be spending some time in the room and would like to avoid high levels of insanity at the hotel. Any comments or suggestions for other places to stay that might be less pricey? Other fun things to do w/her?

I haven't stayed at the Four Seasons, but avoiding the casino hotel madness doesn't seem to me like a reason to stay there. I would be more worried about the men handing out pictures of naked women on the street than the casinos. We stayed at the Paris and loved it. You don't have to walk through the casino to get to the rooms at the Paris, by but not through.

Your daughter would probably enjoy Gameworks, the Rick Thomas Magic show (an afternoon show), seeing the white tigers, the Bellagio fountains, shopping at the Aladdin and Ceasars, amusement park at Circus Circus, movies, bowling. Do a search for more ideas.

Try EFX at MGM. Rick Springfield hosts, and I think an 11 year old would like it. The 4-Seasons is probably a good idea as it sounds like you wish to be somewhat isolated. Regarding the solicitors along the stip - I would view that as an opportunity to educate your daughter to an extent, since it is a major fabric in the cloth-weave that is Las Vegas.. I suggest you not miss M&M World; the Flamingo's aviary; Treasure Island's Pirate sea battle, Mandalay Bay's aquarium (note the pool area for the 4-seasons is different than the Mandalay Bay's, but as I recall, 4-season guests can use MB's pool area - the best in Las Vegas - if you stay at the 4-Seasons, don't miss it) I might suggest however, you also check out Monte Carlo for an alternate hotel choice. A great pool area, and the price will likely be more favorable to the modest budget than 4-Seasons. It is also considered a better strip location. Depending on your daughter's tastes, the Bellagio fountains, NYNY's roller coaster and MGM's lion habitat are also good choices. Check out Cheapovegas.com, for a source of really good information. Las Vegas offers many things even for the non-gambler. hope this helps, enjoy your trip..

The Las Vegas Hilton sits off by itself away from most of the "action", the pool is nice and there is a Star Trek attraction.

Tuscany Suites, Residence Inn and Hawthorn Suites are other choices a bit off the strip. If you're going to Mystere and Celine Dion however, I'd choose the Flamingo. It's a huge casino hotel, but an easy walk from those two shows, and the wildlife around the pool is very nice for kids (flamingos, mini penquins, etc). It's also much easier to find your way out of than most of the large hotels in Vegas.
