Las Vegas hotel pools
Thinking of going to Vegas in July and have never been there. Searching for some hotels that have the best pools for relaxing. I know it will be hot but I am going anyway.
Any suggestions?.

Hotels with excellent pools (that I've been to)
Caesar's Palace
Mandalay Bay
W/very good pools:
Flamingo
Venetian (if you stay in the Venezia Tower, you'll have access to a small, private pool area as well as the larger one available to all hotel guests).
Good pools:
Rio
Monte Carlo
Not so good:
NYNY
Bally's

Be sure to take into mind that some pools attract families with kids like white on rice! I actually really like the pool at Bally's because it doesn't. Also it is older and has a true deep end so you can dive in!

Mandalay Bay has the largest and most extravagant complex, but it attracts lots and lots of kids. Has a wave pool, sand beach, lazy river, etc.
Caesar's is also huge (multiple pools) and very nice for summer visits.
Bellagio's is the most refined (for lack of a better term). Multiple pools, fewest kids, my favorite for quiet relaxation.
Mirage's has a tropical theme and is still very popular. Waterfall, lots of trees and foliage, attracts a lot of families.
Hard Rock's pool is for under 30 year olds only IMO. It's a very college type atmosphere. Sand beach, free form pools, swim up bar etc. It's not one of Vegas' best unless you're 25 and looking to hook up, then it's tops.
Paris' is plain, adequate size, in the shade in the morning, kind of boring.
Flamingo's pools are the best bargain by far. Very tropical feeling with trees/plants/birds galore. The pools are much nicer than the hotel.
Venetian's is relatively plain compared with the other top hotel pools. Just a big pool deck and pools with some trellises and such. Looks like an aferthought.

Unless you have children or just love children, avoid Circus Circus at all costs. I would stay in my car rather than stay there again. Room was ok but the public areas and the pool were like a Chucky Cheese on a bad day.

My vote is for the pools at MGM Grand.....they have a fantastic lazy river, which in my opinion, is much better than the lazy river at Mandalay Bay....MGM's is much longer and has more interesting water features.
They also have a lap pool, and one pool way in the back of the property that I think is adults only. Five pools total.
They all have names like the "Talent" pool and the "Director's" pool.
It's really nice, and usually has plenty of empty lounge chairs, since it's so vast.

I know many on here will probably balk at this - but one of my favorite pools has always been at the Tropicana. Yes - the property is older and nothing like Bellagio or Mandalay Bay - but that's the charm of it. The garden rooms that surround the pool area are a treat from having to stroll through the lobby and casino to get to the pool, or worse yet, to get back to your room when you're all wet. There's a swim-up bar and blackjack table that makes it fun. No, there are no big water slides or wave beaches, but if what you're really looking for is relaxation - check it out. It also doesn't cost anywhere near what the bigger resorts do.

You wrote that you want the best pool "for relaxing." That's key, because many of the pools people are recommending are family pools, or "party" pools -- NOT relaxing.
The Mirage pool is lovely and large, but seats are at a premium. People line up for the pool an hour or more before it opens (I was one of them), in order to get good seats near the water, with good sun/shade. I left the Mirage for greener pastures, and one of the main reasons was I could no longer stomach waking up at 7:00am just so I had a seat at the pool. NOT relaxing, in my book.
The greener pastures I left for are at Green Valley Ranch. This is off the strip, but has one of the nicest, most relaxing pools I've been to. Also the best rooms and beds I've seen in Vegas.
So, I'm a big fan of GVR. However, since you've never been to Vegas, you should stay on the Strip if possible. Best strip pool for relaxation is probably Bellagio, because there won't be screaming kids and prices ensure that things aren't usually overrun.

I was just at Caesar's last weekend and there is some construction going on next to the pool. Not sure if it will still be going on in July but just something to check into.
I like the Mirage pool a lot but yes, it can be crowded.

I am going to have to agree with bashfulLV on the pool at the Tropicana. There are two, one larger one where there is more kids and action with a swim up black jack and I think there was a slide but that may be gone now. There is another one just off past that main pool, smaller and more seculded and I believe adults only. We rented a cabana for $100 for the day and split it between 3 groups of couples that were all traveling together. Got misters by the lounge chairs, fruit and wait service all included so well worth it and the scenery is as tropical as anyplace I have seen. Very relaxing if that is what you want or the main pool is very active if that is what you want...best of all worlds
