The trick of course, is to avoid weekends, but since its for a wedding, you're probably going on a weekend. We stayed at the Luxor at a good rate several years ago but the room was practically bare. On the other hand, loved the Flamingo. The room was pleasant and the pool area and gardens are lots of fun. (Penquins in July!)

I have stayed at many of the Vegas resorts over the years and recently found a gem with a great location. Harrahs is a great hotel. I was worried at first but found it to have good sized rooms and very very clean. And I am picky traveler.
Ballys was nice to ,stayed their a while back. Tropicana was dirty and so was Circus Circus-yuk!

I would stick with the Monte Carlo, Harrahs or Ballys all are clean and great locations.

Is there a good place to gamble with reasonable table limits (5$ min.)and good player clubs among these mid strip hotels that everyone is mentioning? Will be there next month for a conference and some fun.

I do not gamble but my friend does at Harrahs. He often gets his room for free and other freebies to, he belongs to their platinum club. This is all I know, I think anyone who dares gamble should get as many freebies as they can. In this town you see more losers (sadly) then winners.

I was in Vegas last month, and the only low limit blackjack tables that we came across were at the Gold Coast (off-strip) and O'Sheas (strip). The lowest tables at the Gold Coast were $3 and O'Sheas was $5.

You should be able to find $5 tables in the AM hours...6-10 or so at many major places. May find a couple at other hours during the week. In addition to the locations mentioned above, you can find cheap BJ at Boardwalk (slumming but doable) and Sahara.

You also asked about players club benefits. You will get virtually no benefit playing at the $5 level at table games ath the major casinos on the strip. Gamble with green chips and things change. You can build points at .25 slots and VP however.

try www.tripadvisor.com or the fodors site for reviews of all Las Vegas hotels from people. That's what I use all the time to help me decide which hotel to chose from.

We stayed at the Luxor last year for $65 a night with a free upgrade to the tower suites. The Luxor was quite posh for the price. The room was spacious, clean and exotic, and the hotel was quieter than most. The pools were massive, but not particularly interesting. I would stay there again with no hestiation, especially at that price.

Stay in Vegas during the week and the property's that are expensive at the weekend suddenly become decent cheap hotels
