I notice there are some lakes on Cape Cod. Are any decent for swimming/fishing? And are there cottage resorts or motels on them?

They are not really lakes, more like large ponds. I can't say as to fisihing because I do not care to fish, but they are nice for swimming. They get much warmer than the ocean or the bay. The problem is that parking near a pond can be difficult. Many are close to the Cape Cod Rail Trail so if all you want to do is swim, you could ride bikes there

I do not know about cottages on the ponds. They tend to be private homes.

They are called kettle ponds because they are round and shaped like kettles.

There are houses for rent on pond's edge in Wellfleet -- try a local realtor. If you stay anywhere in Wellfleet (like a house rental), you can get a town parking sticker for your car, which gives you access to town ponds and some town beaches. This may be true of Eastham, too.

There is a state park (north-east of Orleans, I think) that has a pond with public swimming.

I think some ponds have canoe/paddle boat rentals. Don't know about fishing.

The kettle ponds are totally wonderful for relaxing after a day of surf and wind.

There are bass tournaments all season long. It is large enough to water ski or go tubing. It is in the town of Centerville and is about 2 miles from Craigville Beach. There are some rentals during the summer and I think one motel (but not sure if it has lakefront access). Do a search for rental or reas estate rental in Centerville or LAke Wequaquet and I am sure you wil find some choices. Centerville is also 5 minutes from Hyannis and all kinds of shopping and sites.

Dorgal is right on track. There are over 350 fresh water bodies of water on the Cape and a few of them are large enough to be called lakes.

In addition to Wequaquet, there is at least Scargo Lake in Dennis, Pleasant Lake in Harwich and Pilgrim Lake in Orleans.

The state park which someone referred to is Nickerson State Park in Brewster. There are a couple of ponds there including one that has a beach and a boat rental spot. We have fished there before with our kids.

Long Pond is just that in Brewster/Harwich. There's a public beach (need a Brewster beach sticker) and power boats are allowed on it so definitely some fishing.

Pilgrim Lake in Orleans is lovely for swimming.
