To all: thanks for the great info. I ended up cancelling my reservation with the Marriott Timberlodge in So. Lake Tahoe yesterday, but just booked reservations at the Resort at Squaw Creek.

Suzie: Thanks for the webcam link -- Tahoe and Yosemite look great. I'm so excited! I shared your info with a friend who is heading Truckee with her family. (Looks like all is well up there, too.)

I can't help but observe what a great service this board is. With all this community's help, nohogal is going to north Tahoe (well, close) after all.
Another saved trip!
Thanks Fodor's for the board.

That's great. Just yestrday my coworker mentioned that he was in Squaw Valley last year and though t it was fantastic. Great fireworks show.

Uh oh I just went to check their web site and I see that they've cancelled the fireworks due to dry weather. I hope that doesn't ruin any plans.

They may have cancelled the fireworks in Squaw Valley, but it looks like the High Sierra Beard & Moustache Championships are still on!

However, we may skip that.

Thanks for the link to the squaw valley site.

When I made the reservations today, someone at the hotel/resort said they still may do fireworks 7/4 over the lake by Tahoe City. If they cancel, we'll understand though.

South Lake Tahoe still has plans to do the fireworks as of noon today so that should hold as they had another decent day up at the fire.

Incline Village and Tahoe City will still have fireworks on the 4th. Commons Beach is the best viewing areain Tahoe City. I must warn you that Tahoe City traffic is bad during the 4th of July.

You know if you wanted to get your reservations back in South Lake Tahoe you probably could do that. The news constantly says that people are cancelling but there really is no reason. Most travelers will not be able to tell that there was a fire. It would also be good for the South Lake Tahoe economy. Whatever you do decide I do hope you have a great 4th.
