What time of year? Winter? Summer?

If you do a search, you'll find plenty of posts on Tahoe that will give you an idea of what there is to do.

I'm trying to make this friendly, but I have to ask. Why did you decide to go there? There must be some reason. What was it about Lake Tahoe that made you want to go there? Once we know that then it will be easier to tell you what there is to do. Primarily it is a haven for outdoor activities so are you into bike riding, hiking, boating, gambling, fine dining, horseback riding, seeing museums, Shakespeare on the Lake, or what?

How much are you looking to spend and how long will you be there? Do you want to rent a lakefront apartment (big bucks), or stay in a Hampton Inn a few miles from the lake, or in a big resort hotel?

I would also agree that putting Lake Tahoe in the search function will give you tons of information. From there it would be wise to ask specifics as they relate to you and your family.

There is so much to do in Lake Tahoe. Be sure to make reservations if you will be there during the busy season (all summer and ski season). You can often get good hotel rates at the casinos (no need to gamble, I think most have pools). Camping is great fun (be sure to reserve a spot well ahead of your stay).

Tahoe has an extensive bike trail system. There are a number of state beaches on the California side. Vikingsholm in Emerald Bay is interesting (and a long walk - only for the strong). The Tallac Historic Site at South Tahoe is nice. The Hellman-Ehrman mansion is a fun "tour". You can take a cruise on the Tahoe Queen. There is a stream profile chamber near South Tahoe that is interesting and fun for the kids.

A must is the gondola ride at Heavenly. It is right next to the Mariott Residential Hotel at Stateline.

Now, I must go get something accomplished. I've spent WAY too much time on my computer this morning.

Have fun!!

Sounds like the Crown Motel would work out nicely with your two teens. It is right on the lake on the North shore (where we prefer) in King City. They have arts and crafts booths set up during the summer, nearby. We always stay in Incline Village in July and the rooms book up early in Tahoe, be sure to get your reservations in advance. Plan on a day to drive around the lake.

I’m sorry but Kings Beach in Lake Tahoe is not a great place for teens. There are so many places around the lake that you don’t need to go to Kings Beach, Brockway or Crystal Bay. These are all either at or near the north shore Nevada border and they are not the most desirable areas. Incline would be fun. The beaches there are nice and it’s very close to Sand Harbor. You can even catch the Shakespeare play that they have during the summer. Here’s a link: http://www.laketahoeshakespeare.com/

Zephyr Cove is Fun for teens also. Camp Richardson is very active and lots to see in the area. Emerald Bay is right up the road. Meeks Bay has lakefront lodging which is rusticy but really clean. My personal favorite part of the lake is the west side so I am biased.

I was going to recommend Zephyr Cove as well. It is made up of lake-side cabins, some log, others wood-sided. Most have kitchens and small decks. The cabins are back in the trees, so you have plenty of shade. There is a terrific beach in front of the cabins and a nice dock where the Tahoe Queen paddlewheeler docks, plus a few other boats. You can also rent water equipment there. There is also a restaurant onsite. The place is about midway between the south and north shore casinos, so you can easily drive to either to gamble, see a show, or go to a buffet.

I too like the west side best. I spent many summers at Homewood, and there is easy access to Sunnyside, Tahoe City etc. It's also so much prettier on that side. Incline is good too. I really dislike the south side in the summer. Heavenly Valley is, of course, good for skiing in the winter. And, as others have suggested, do a search and also give us a clue why you selected Tahoe.
