Lake Powell in August
My wife and I are planning a trip to Lake Powell next august. We will be renting a houseboat and staying for a week. My question is; Are mosquitos and flies much of a problem during August?
Thank you!!

Never had a bug problem during our annual Powell trip.
August will be HOT! Bring plenty of coolers for ice and mix in dry ice with coolers that you won't be opening for a couple days and duct tape them closed. How much planning depends on type of boat you're renting, how far from the rental/fuel areas, number of people and if you'll have a ski/fishing boat.

Blyvail is right - it is going to be wicked hot, especially in the side canyons. After dark, you can feel the heat radiating off the canyon walls. No worries though - if you get too hot, just jump in the water to cool off!
I've been several times and never had a mosquito bite or any problem with bugs.
