Labor Day in Chicago

What should we do in Chicago over Labor Day weekend? We are staying at the Marriott on Michigan Ave. and like the tourist sights.

Eat on the 95th floor of the Hancock building for lunch (dinners are very expensive). Don't bother with the Sears tower, it,s out of the way. Take one of the boat rides through Chicago. Some of them leave not far from your hotel. Go
to Navy Pier, if you'd like take a boat tour on Lake Michigan and see why Chicago has the world's best skyline.
Shop at Water Tower Place and Michigan Avenue. Try a Chicago Pizza, (Pizzeria Uno, Duo, Giordandos etc. See live music or Second City Theatre. Choose a museum,
I prefer the Art museum. Your Hotel is very centrally located.

Colleen, in addition to all of the usual tourist attractions, Jazz Fest is going on over Labor Day weekend at Grant Park. For more details you can look at www.metromix.com or

Those two websites are also good for restaurants, entertainment, etc.

Thanks a lot for the helpful advice. I have a few questions. Does anyone know if the Cheesecake Factory is in Water Tower Place and where is the best place to watch the air show? We will probably be walking most of the time or using public transportation. Also, is there an admission charge for the Jazz Festival?

The Cheescake Factory is in the "basement" of John Hancock building...it has an outside entrance. The air show was last weekend. I believe there is no admission price to Jazz Fest. So far they are predicting great weather for this weekend!

Jazz Fest is most definitely free - the last big, free festival of its kind. Kurt Elling is playing at 7 on Friday, Dave Brubeck at 8; Cassandra Wilson and Terence Blanchard are featured on Sunday.
Sorry, but the air show was two weeks ago. Navy Pier still has fireworks displays, though. And a mass murderer who also cooked at the Cheesecake factory was picked up this week - hat may keep the crowds away!
