Well, I just had to laugh over the mention of Sylmar in the discussion of how to get from San Jose to Anaheim. I'm sure that would have the poor OP totally confused.
BTW, multiple lanes of the I-5 and the 210 were closed at Sylmar for several hours overnight because of a fatal accident. I think both freeways are now open, but these events echo through the entire system for hours. You just never know...

Assuming that the OP might actually read my post #30, it's pretty clear that Sylmar is along the 5/210 routing since I mentioned it as "where the 5 comes in to Sylmar".
"I don't know about the rest of your route, but if your goal is to get to Anaheim directly from San Jose on Day1, look at taking the 5 to the 210 and then the 57, avoiding the 405 entirely. Google Maps works fine, especially with Traffic and Data turned on. If you haven't heard about the Nethercutt Museum, that's not far from where the 5 comes in to Sylmar. The Museum is free and doesn't need a reservation, unlike the Collection."
What I find funny is how invested some people are in having the OP use the 405, when Google Maps is the best way to figure out the fastest route at the particular day and time that they're traveling. What would any accident would do on the southbound 405? I know having sat in that parking lot for 2 hours once, coming back from Santa Barbara, I've had discussions with friends who say they just use the Ventura Freeway through the Valley and don't even try!
