La Jolla Travelodge

I have reservations at the Travelodge in La Jolla and wanted to know anyone's opinion on the rooms? This was the cheapest place in La Jolla I found to stay at($75/night).

An excellent choice. It has been recently refurbished and the location could not be better.

Thanks Abu. Obviously you must be biased because your email address indicates you work there. Can you tell me anything about the rooms? Room size, tv size, etc.

Since you asked, I do not work at the travelodge, but my couisin Haji is the nite manager. The rooms are spacious and offer a view of the water. The rooms have been recently upgraded with new furnishings and carpets and drapes. The owners have tried very hard to fix it up and it shows. There is a small cafe off the lobby and the pool area features a new jacuzzi. The rooms feature 27 inch tvs and include 64 cable channels and HBO. Check us out, we will exceed your expectations!

i am not 100% certain but just wanted to give you the heads up. i seem to recall seeing this hotel and thinking the view would be nice (IF you get a view room) but i am pretty sure that it is a ways from the "village" part of la jolla (5-10 minute drive either way to la jolla or in the other direction pacific beach). it's also on a fairly busy street. just didn't want you to think that you were staying in downtown la jolla.

Have you called the Travelodge ..seems "Abu" was more than willing to say what a great place it is...too eager to me. Wonder if his cousin really is the nite manager?
However, if this is all you can afford, go with it.

Terry - My fiance and I tried to get a room there one night last March. Granted the condition of the rooms may have changed since then but the location surely has not. It's farther away from the village of La Jolla and not really within easy walking distance to anything. Parking in La Jolla is typical California, so I'm not sure you want to be that far removed from the fun. Aslo, unless I had a bad angle from the parking lot, there was not a view of the water. I guess if you're standing on tiptoes on a second floor balcony, you may see a spot of blue. I think Abu is a little misleading on that. I saw one of the ground-floor rooms and it looked fairly run-down.
I know La Jolla is expensive, but you may want to look at a slightly more expensive room to make your time in La Jolla enjoyable. Like I said, we tried to get a room at the Travelodge and were edged out of the last room by the line-jumper in front of us. Thank God, because in desperation, I called the Best Western there in La Jolla direct and asked for the Entertainment Book rate. The clerk told me that she couldn't offer me that but gave me the manager's special instead which was $99 a night. The rooms were great and the pool was clean. Best of all, we were able to leave the car in the lot and walk to everything.
