La Jolla restaurants??

Going to be in San Diego on business, staying on La Jolla Village Drive. Been to San Diego many times. Two women with little time to get to dinner, but wondered, from the natives if there's anything new and exciting in La Jolla for dinner. Won't have car this time so we plan to stay pretty much in La Jolla. Know George's. Anything else to recommend? Thanks.

The Marine Room is a definite must! Make sure to call for reservations in advance. The food is wonderful and the view is spectacular; the ocean comes right up to the windows and the sunset is beautiful.

For a recent weekend trip, I stumbled across ths site, complete with menus.

I read elsewhere that Brockton Villa, which used to be mainly a breakfast/brunch place has done a really nice job with their dinner menu. Unfortunately, I can't find the review right now.

If you are staying on La Jolla Village Drive, then you will certainly NOT be within walking distance of the good restaurants, unless you are really into hiking.

If you could tell me where on La Jolla Village drive then maybe I could come up with something,

SDSam, I believe we are staying at the Hyatt and must be at that hotel for business. I know the area a bit and agree that the best restaurants aren't there, but we figured we could get a taxi to "downtown LaJolla". The car is more trouble than it's worth and we will have another colleague who lives there driving us where we need to go during the day. Does that clarify?

I believe that the Hyatt itself has an Italian restaurant with a very good reputation. L'A______ something, I think. Sorry ... memory fails! But you could certainly try that one.

I have eaten several times at the Hyatt and it isn't too bad. I don't know of anything new in La Jolla. As for exciting, you will need to define what you mean.

One of my favorites is the Marine Room at the Sea Lodge in La Jolla Shores. It has great food and you are right on the beach. Ask for a table by the window. They have picture windows that literally are on the beach. They have a web site so you can check it out. Ther URL for the Sea Lodge is:

I also like The Spot in downtown La Jolla for casual. When it comes to fine dining, then you need to be more spcific about what you are looking for.
