I was flying with my 4-year old niece to Los Angeles from Oakland 7 years ago...there was a very obese gentleman sitting next to her in the boarding area....she asked him very loudly "are you having a baby?"

I was soooooo embarrased...especially since we were flying with him*yikes*

While writing in class about her family, our daughter wrote that mommy is good with crafts and daddy likes to go to Hawaii. 8-)

Well, DB, think how you would have felt if it had been "Daddy is good with crafts, and mommy likes to go to Hawaii."

My father overheard a conversation that a little boy, maybe 5 year old, was having with his mother on an airplane. Mother explained to Little Boy that he needed to wear his seatbelt to be safe. Little Boy replied with excitement, "Is the plane going to fly upside down?!?!"

Riding along with my dad, brother-in-law and 5 year old nephew in my retired father's newly purchased, gigantic truck. Dad says to nephew, "Do you like Grandpa's new truck?" Nephew replies in the affirmative, but careful to spare his own father's feelings, quickly adds "Oh, but I like my dad's truck too! But he drives a LOT faster."

Absolutely true story...My daughters best friend was home on leave from Bagdhad two weeks ago. Friend Corrie is a beautiful young woman, about 5'2" and 98lbs. Picture the already emotional scene at the airport on her way back.
There is a little boy about 5 years old with his mother. This little boy, after staring at Corrie for some time finally comes up to her and says; "are you a real army person?" Corrie replies; "yes, I am" Little boy asks; "can I give you a hug?"
Corrie and this little boy hug and he says....."thank you for protecting us".
There was not a dry eye within earshot.

Neither my daughter nor myself can fathom why Corrie has been put in this dangerous situation, but we all pray for her safe return and the endearing words of a small anonymous child.

How dare we read such filth to our children!

We were out at a Perkin's Family Restaurant when my then 4 year old daughter spied 4 elderly nuns having lunch. She asked if she might say hello as she was very impressed with church at that time. I went over with her when they had finished their meal and my little girl said to the smiling nuns, "My mother said that priests are God's friends so are you God's girlfriends?" I could have died. Surprising to me but the nuns just began to laugh. Threehearts

Prior to visiting the USVI for the first time, I explained to our son that people talked a little differently than we did and he might not be able to understand people at first because of their accents. Our arrival was delayed and we ended up in downtown Cruz Bay late at night. A very nice lady from Atlanta helped us find a cab and shared the ride with us since she was staying at the same place. Like many friendly southerners she chatted with us about St John. Our 5 YO asked to say something to her. He told her "I think you speak very good English."
