Staying in Keywest for 7 days -I've been told to take a day sail ? to another key any advice as to which Key and how to do this? From the site I see many fodorites think a week is too long in just Keywest so I would appreciate your help once again !
Thanks

You are probably talking about the FastCat sailboat ride to the Dry Tortugas and yes, it is a must when visiting the keys.

It is one of those once in a lifetime things.

I do not think a week is too long in Key West. Lovely town with tons to do.

Practice getting your liver in shape.

I nearly always take a day to relax @ Bahai Honda State Park. Some of the nicest water in the Keys.

Take a day trip out to the Dry Tortugas. IMHO a week is too short of a time in Key West. Lots of sightseeing and cultural activities to take advantage of: for ex. there are three or four theaters , concerts, live stage plays, lectures. Most people don't even hit the surface of all that Key West has to offer.

A trip to the Tortugas takes a day.

A snorkeling trip will take almost a day, depending on where you set out from (I'd suggest Looe key.
Shopping will take some time.
Sightseeing (Hemmingway's house, the cemetery, seeing the great little houses, etc) will take some time.
Then there's eating - Key West has many good restaurants. You need at least 4 to 5 days to hit 'em all.
have fun.

Be sure to take the Conch Train tour early in your stay to learn the history and layout of Key West. Check with Moped Hospital (bike & Moped rentals) to see if they still offer a bike tour of KW..that was fun for us.

A week too long? In our opinion, it is not long enough! Our favorite "tour" was a jet ski tour around the entire island. Many stops, including going into a mangrove, submarine bunkers, checking crab traps, etc! Tours leave from several locations, you will see signs. Well worth it!

We spend a minimum of 2 weeks in the fall and 2 weeks in the spring in Key West and never seem to get enough. It's all in the attitude If you need a formal tourist activity every second to stay entertained, you might experience a little lull, but otherwise you'll be fine!
