Keystone or Copper Mountain?
Hello,
I am trying to make a decision between Keystone and Copper Mountain for an overnight ski trip in December. We went to Keystone last year and had a great time. Went ice skating, took the gondola to the fondue restaurant and stayed in one of the condos a short shuttle ride to the slopes. Would you recommend going back to Keystone or trying Copper Mountain? Where would you recommend staying at Copper? Are there good restaurants and other things to do besides skiing like at Keystone? We want to stay in a decent place but not too pricey. Thanks for your help!

hi rockie, imho copper has a much better ski mountain. imho keystone has a much better base area. for just overnight i think i would go back to keystone, as it is familiar to you. also there are not many restaurants at copper and no place to walk around. and - keystone will be beautifully decorated for christmas!!

I agree that Copper is better for skiing but has limited "stuff to do off the mountain" and Keystone is a nice town for walking about and dining. Kind of depends on how much time you plan to spend doing each of those things and which is more important to you.

Yes, Keystone has a better base area and more things to do, but we preferred skiing at Copper. Now that I've said that, we had a blast at Copper one night at the base where 2 guys were playing guitars and telling jokes in the main lodge. In no time at all we were dancing on the tables, in our ski boots. Fun.
Anyway, we liked Copper because the mountain is nicely divided into expert, intermediate and novice areas. You don't have to worry about skiing with people whose abilities greatly surpass yours, or those whose abilities might hinder you. That's why we loved it.
If you have a car you can ski at one and stay at the other. We've done that too.

rockie -- one last suggestion. This does require a car though. How about skiing at Copper and staying at Breckinridge? Not there's a great village with lots to do.
I can't remember the name of the place where we stayed at Copper -- sorry about that!
Whatever you decide, you're sure to have a good time.
