Key West Trip Report
Just returned from our great trip
We stayed at KW Harbor Inn. The location next to the marinas was perfect for us.. Our room -the Jamaica--was good but not great. I found the slanted ceiling in the bathroom to be particularly annoying and I am not 6 ft tall.. There were several maintenance issues when we arrived--bulbs out, door off the hinge, fan hitting a beam that were immediately fixed when mgt notified. We liked the Cuba room below us better! The pool was very pleasant --heated and the grounds are well kept Breakfast and HH food were adequate.. HH drinks were very plentiful!!. The staff was very pleasant.. Most important, the fellow clients were wonderful and we sat for hours at breakfast and HH. I therefore would return to the KWHI
There is some concern about future construction. I would not let it keep me from staying there.
Food - we had a very good dinner at Seven Fish --but very noisy. Would not return
Had a huge and wonderful curry chicken wrap at Lobos (we split it) and to die for onion rings. Would return (thanks Seminolegirl)
Great salads at Fogarty's- you should split it (again Seminolegirl) (remember I am Seminole class of '65-not a typo) Would return
Good fish sandwich at BO's. Thanks to PJK I asked for the special and got free fries The conch fritters were so so but it was my first try and I thought they would be crisp like hushpuppies.
Had a good sandwich at Waterfront market and got wines there--small selection of non-chardonnay whites
Had very fresh and tasty sushi and cold cuts from Faustos- better market than Waterfront
Best desserts at Croissant de France. Good cuban coffee near Butterfly House which was fantastic!!
Enjoyed Trolley tour
But the BEST was the afternoon sail with Cpt Ron and his terrific crew on the Schooner Liberty . I "drove the boat" for 20 minutes as there were only 10 people on the ride.
Key West Airport needs to be bulldozed except for the restaurant!!

I might have liked it pre-911.
But if you arrive before they start the TSA check there is no seating. Starting the security check outside under the portico in stocking feet isn't fun. Post check -crowded waiting room--then moved to outside waiting area then moved to tarmac baggage check. I was glad I had a good biscuit in the restaurant!!
