My husband and I will be flying into Ketchikan the day before our cruise departs. Need lodging for one night only. Do not need 5 stars but would like clean and pleasant with a restaurant within walking distance and nice views. Another consideration will be access to transportation to cruise ship dock upon checkout. Can anyone offer comments about these places: Narrows Inn, Gilmore Hotel or Best Western Landing

Avoid the Gilmore. I stayed there it was very old and bars below it were noisy all night.

I stayed at the Best Western. It was nice and they actually have a nice bar and restaurant there. No views there though. It's not right in town, but they have a free shuttle that will drop you off in town and pick you up. After the cruise ships leave, there isn't much to do in town anyway because everything closes. Also note, nothing is open if a ship is not in town. If you are going during peak season, I wouldn't worry because there are ships almost every day in high season. Make sure you eat at Annabelle's Keg and Chowderhouse. Enjoy your trip to Alaska.

You may want to consider the Cape Fox Lodge. We stayed there when we were in Ketchikan a few years ago (it was a Westmark property then, now it belongs to West Coast). An exceptional hotel located right in "downtown" Ketchikan. It is likely to be more expensive than your other choices, but it is very convenient and has an excellent restaurant. As noted, the Best Western is on the outskirts of town. From what I recall, it looked nice from the outside.

TY all for comments. Actually, Cape Fox is my first choice...and the one my cruise line uses for their passengers on the LAST night of the cruise package...but I need lodging for the night BEFORE my cruise starts and there is "no room in the inn" that particular night. Sigh! Will keep checking back with them just in case something opens up. Again...ty all.

Hi, I lived in Ketchikan. The Landing is nice, though it is a little out of town (near the state ferry terminal) as is the Narrows. The Gilmore is right over one of the rowdiest bars in town.

For location (right next to Creek Street) and value I think the New York Hotel can't be beat. Though I understand there are some steps if that is a problem for you. The cruise ship dock is maybe 150 yards at most, and they offer a free shuttle. Definitely eat at Annabelles and Cape Fox, also the halibut and chips at Burger Queen are out of this world!
