Kennywood Park Reopens June 4
Updating an earlier post about Kennywood Park in Pittsburgh, PA being damaged and subsequently closing due to a severe storm (now called a macroburst--not micro, but macro by the NWS!), Kennywood will reopen today, June 4. Four rides are not operational at this time: The Whip (roof collapsed and killed a 29 year old woman in the storm), The Log Jammer, The Paratrooper, and The Old Mill (all due to tree damage). ALL of the roller coasters are operational!

Sarah, I visited Kennywood this past weekend. The staff did a great job fixing the park after the storm. You would never know what happened there unless you looked very closely at things (mainly the trees that were trimmed). The Noah's Ark attraction (it is a historic landmark, along with the rest of the park) escaped any damage....very closely, though. Apparently many of the old trees next to it were damaged and cause damage nearby. It looks like they were removed since that area is filled with sunshine now where it was once entirely shady. Only 2 rides remain closed: The Whip and The Paratrooper.
