I love that part of Maine. And it has always seemed very cool that you can indeed take a photo of the Bush residence, albeit at some distance.
One of my favorite travel memories was a solo trip I took up there and I ended up in Kennebunkport on Memorial Day during their parade. It was an all-American event from the firetruck to the local floats.

To answer your question--Kennebunkport is lovely as is the entire coast of Maine in my opinion. In my travels abroad when I am asked where I would recommend a foreighner travel I always include the lovely coastline of Maine in my American rec's. I live in Connecticut--haven't been to Maine in severalyears but yearn to go back!!
