kayaking in Monterey Bay
Hi, can anyone recommend a good kayak outfitter in Monterey Bay? Ideally, my wife and I would like to paddle a tandem sit-on-top. We are both heavy into the marine world and would love a shot at seeing some of the wildlife (seals, sea lions, otters, etc). Any recommendations would be great. Oh, we would just like to paddle for a few hours. We will be out there in early July.
Thanks!

We have access to our own kayaks, so we don't need to rent, but here are a couple of websites for you: www.montereykayak.com and www.adventuresbythesea.com
We just returned from a two day kayak trip at Huntington Lake & had a great time. I returned from the trip with a MAJOR sunburn tho, OUCH!!
We paddled the lake & coves for around four hours each day. Don't forget to apply a good suncreen, especially to your legs.
I mentioned to our family that we should take the kayaks (we had four singles) to the Monterey Bay soon. Have a great time!! ***kim***

I know you're asking about kayaking, but since you're interested in seeing marine wildlife, you might want to check out Elkhorn Slough Safari (www.elkhornslough.com).
I can't personally vouch for the tour yet (I'm going for the first time this month), but it's gotten rave reviews in Frommer's. It's a two-hour pontoon boat ride especially for spotting seat otters, etc.

We did some great kayaking out at Moss Landing. I cannot remeber the name of the company but they are the only ones at Moss Landing. We saw tons of seals that got really close to the kayak. The only problem was we started with the current so on the way back we were going against the curent. We stopped on the way back to talk to a ranger that was kayaking and during the ten minute conversation were drifted way far back. These were tandem on top kayaks.
