Kayak Kauai's 16 mile Na Pali Trip

Has anyone ever done this trip:
http://www.kayakkauai.com/seakayak.html

It's Kayak Kauai's all day (7a-4p), 16 mile, guided trip of Na Pali, putting in at Haena.

My boyfriend and I have kayaked a few times before together, and we love it. We did Maui Kayak's six hour tour of La Perouse last summer...there was some heavy paddling when the wind kicked up, and for some reason we work really well together in the kayak. So I feel like we've got a background to do it.

Besides the fact that it's going to be a long grueling day, what can anyone tell me about this trip?

Thanks!

love

No advice, but I would say go for it! From the hike we saw lots of kayakers...made me wish we would have done it.

Maybe contact them and ask about level of experience recommended.

I would do it and report back to fodors immediately!

Ahhhhh...the gorgeous and breath taking Napali coast. I did not kayak there but took a catamaran ride along the coast and stopped for snorkeling. I don't know if you are an expert kayaker but it will be quite a trip if the weather is bad. On our way back from our tour we found a kayak with no-one in it!! We found out later that the coast guard picked him up. I'm sure it will be safe with a guide though. They wouldn't lead you out to danger. It shouldn't be much different than the windy Maui trip. Good luck and paddle safe. Which ever way you go...you must must see it. Sorry I didn't help you much but good luck.

Kayak Kaua`i has an _excellent_ reputation among paddlers here on the island for safe vessels and expert guides.

If you're going during the late Spring, Summer, or early Fall, you can expect almost-glassy seas and _great_ views.

Go for it!

Thanks guys! Yeah, we're going in June, and they'll only do the trip May-September anyway. Glad to hear the forecast is for glassy seas and that Kayak Kauai has a good reputation. We're VERY excited!
