Kauai nō ka ʻoi means "Kauai is the best"

Had to look it up too!

Great report.

BuffaloGirl,
Thank you so much for your quick response!
I haven't quite figured it all out yet but I'm thinking of spending two nights on the North Shore for a different experience.
Or we could get just one credit card and stay at the Hyatt for only two nights.
So many choices!

Bettina222 - for the additional 3 nights we spent at the Hyatt, I booked through the Hyatt website and at that time the rooms were quite expensive (for our budget at least). But the two free nights offset some of the expense. However, about two weeks before our trip I checked the Hyatt website again, and the prices were lowered considerably. So I called and re-booked at the much lower price (AAA breakfast included).

I would regret NOT staying on the north shore for part of the trip. There are no words.

Check Hanalei Bay Resort. We booked through ParisshKauai.com.

I overwhelmed myself planning that trip and it didn't need to be that way. The island is so laid back and easy to navigate. You will love it!!!

Would I be humble bragging if I told you I have reached Kauai Nirvana in which I never over think anything anymore. I wish that on both of you.
