Anyone had the pleasure of attending this in the past? It starts on May 26th with what seems like a great dinner and entertainment...and then the next 3 days are at the Kukui Grove Park Pavilion.

Is this something a mainlander would want to attend? Sounds great to me.

Also, where is Kukui Grove Park Pavilion..is it anywhere near the mall near where K Mart is?

The Pavilion is right behind the KMart. (Soon the pavilion area will be razed to make way for Costco.)

I have been the the Polynesian Festival several times, both at Vidhina Stadium and at the Pavilion. Parts of it can be entertaining, especially the group dancing which is the most fun to watch.
However there is lots of down-time at this event, it can become excrutiatingly boring. The emcee will announce a 15 minute break which will last 60 minutes. It is hot in the daytime. The solo dancing can get tediuos and the emcee can be super tedious, LOL. I recommend looking in the paper for the schedule and then attending only a portion of the event, preferably the evening finale on the last day.

The festival goes until the 29th and we are leaving on the 28th..sob sob.

Yes, the pageant may be worth it as all the good dancing stuff will be concentrated into one evening. And there will be food!

I am not a lover of craft fairs but I did buy a neat watercolor print at the festival a few years ago.

If you attend the 3 day event you will go nuts with all the waiting-around time, the solo dances that take forever, the heat,the continually yammering emcee.

LOL, Auntie. Everytime I went to the Polynesian Festival I wanted to kick myself for being a slow learner.

This is a dance competition, it is a chance for halaus from all over the PAcific to socialize. For the average tourist there is waaaaaaaaay too much downtime between performances.
