Kauai or Maui for Helicopter ride?

I am planning 2 helicopter rides. 1 on the Big Island and the 2nd on either Kauai or Maui. I want the 2nd to be for waterfalls and gorgeous scenery. Kauai has Waimai Canyon but Maui was named best helicopter ride by Fodors. Has anyone taken a helicopter ride on both Kauai and Maui? I would appreciate a recommendation. Thanks!

I have not been to Maui, so I cannot compare. However I did enjoy my helicopter ride over Kauai. You not only see the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, but also the Na Pali coastline, which is amazing, and can only be seen by boat or 'copter. Kauai also gets an large amount of rainfall, and you see waterfalls everywhere during your ride.

Aloha! We have gone with InterIsland Helicopters each and every time we've done a helicopter tour on Kauai. They're outstanding, and what sets them apart from the others is that they leave the doors off the helicopter to give the most unobstructed view possible. In addition, they also offer a tour that lands at a private waterfall where you stop for a picnic lunch and can take a dip, if you like. Their pilots are all military trained and very professional. I have also heard good things about Jack Harter, the original helcopter tour operator on Kauai. Have fun!

We have done both islands, and IMHO, there is no comparison that Kauai is the better choice of the two. If you are looking for suggestions on the Garden Isle, I would first suggest Jack Harter and secondly, Will Squires (sp?). They both have impeccable records as far as safety where some other do not and they give you a wonderful narrative and their love of the island is evident. They are not as commercial and staged as some of their competitors and dollar for dollar, you get a longer, more informed ride.

Thank you all for your excellent recommendations. I definately will be taking my 2nd helicopter ride on Kauai.
Margot55, I'm afraid of heights. Isn't it a little scary to have the doors off?
On turns, does it feel like you're going to fall out?
