Kauai/Maui Activity/Restaurant Reservations?

I'm just wondering if I need to make reservations ahead of time for any Maui and Kauai activities or restaurants? I'm going there on my honeymoon in two and a half weeks and have only made reservations for the luau in Maui so far. Thanks!

MandR,
If you are planning to have a sunset dinner at the Beach House in Poipu while in Kauai I would make reservations for that before you leave. Have a great trip!

We wanted to do a dinner cruise but were talked into a sunset cruise on a catamaran by a man at the activities desk at the Hyatt. It was terrible. We had to wade about 75' out into the water to climb up the steps of the boat. The tide kept pushing the boat away from the shore. They had us line up one-by-one and would shout "Go!" when the tide was pushing the boat back in. When they shouted to go, we had to run (one person at a time) the 75' to the boat and then scramble up the steps. I was drenched because a huge wave came up when I was about half-way to the boat. I had to turn around, go back to the beach, and then do it again. The food and drinks were not good. This may have been just a one-time thing, but if you want a cruise I wouldn't recommend this one. (I'm not bashing the Hyatt - we've stayed there three times and love it).

Our favorite restaurant anywhere is Sansei in Kapalua, Maui. One has opened in Kihei since we've been there. Outstanding food and reservation recommended.

Oh my goodness! I'll be sure to avoid that cruise! It may have been a one-time thing, but I think I'll avoid it just to be safe. I have just made reservations for The Beach House, and we LOVE sushi so we definitely want to go to Sansei in Maui. We love fine dining, so we would hate to miss out on a restaurant just because we didn't think to make reservations ahead of time. Do you think we need them for Nicks Fishmarket in Maui? Or for any activities like the helicopter tour in Kauai? Or should we wait to see what the weather is like before making any activity reservations? I've been so involved in wedding planning that I'm way behind in honeymoon planning!

I'd say make reservations for everything ahead of time. You can always cancel later if your plans change.
