Now I'm weeping...would love to come to Kauai with the excuse of a Fodorite GTG! Don't think DH will go for it...we are on budget travel (home improvements getting most of the resources)this year!

Thanks for the invite iceeu2! You are welcome to join us for the GTG in NJ though! Trish

iceeu2, Trish & hubby are great fun and GTG Fodorites and would be a welcomed addition to this GTG.

Hey, now that you know what I look like, you won't be able to miss me, especially if I'm wearing my bright red flowered shirt.

I'm not sure how big the island is. We are staying in the north so don't know how far the drive will be.

Nat...it's 30 minutes max..You will pass right by it many times during your vacation. You can't back out now! Plus, there will probably be somewhere in that area you will want to have dinner that night..

WOW!! More people for cocktails and a GTG -- I'll have to bring more "whine."

I'll be coming from the West Coast -- about 45 minutes?

36 more days!!!

Where on the west side?

If Waimea Plantation Cottages, allow closer to an hour for the drive.

See all of you there! 8-)

As we headed into Lihu`e for our weekly shopping trek today, I took a detour to check out the progress of renovations at Islander on the Beach:
http://www.islanderonthebeach.com/

Still definitely a construction zone -- complete with that yellow plastic "do not cross" tape across the front entrance (the sign directed guests around the side of the building).

So check the map included in the link above, park in the front lot, and head for the pool. See you there!

I wanna be there!!!!

Any thoughts on Islander in August Auntie? We have the house in Hanalei, but want to head on island 4 days early to do a realestate search. Was thinking of staying there at their rockbottom prices, but would love any other affordable suggestions in Kaapa or Poipu, since we'll be staying in Hanalei later on. Mahalo.....I wish I could be there!!!!!!!!!! Sigh....so much wine to bring, wrong time!

Bman, what does your Kauai Revealed say? I found the driving times in it to be pretty well dead on.
