Kauai Assistance Needed
I will be staying in Princeville for about 4 days. I've never been to Hawaii, What is there to do on Kauai?
I am not in to museums or flowers/gardens. I love outdoor adventure.
I've been told that it takes hours to drive anywhere on the island. Is that true?

I definitely do not agree with whoever told you that getting around the island is going to take "hours". From Princeville to Waimea Canyon is only about 2 hours and that is on the other side of the island. It is not that big at all.
I would definitely suggest taking a drive out to Waimea Canyon. It is spectacular.
The Wet and Dry Sand Caves out by Haena State Park (near Princeville) are also neat. We also enjoyed seeing the Kilauea lighthouse and the Opaekaa falls.

Kauai is my favorite island in the entire Hawaiian chain because of its low key attitude and natural beauty.
Princeville is more of a tourist community of rental homes and condos. The area is very green, wet and scenic.
If I was to recommend just a couple things in Kauai:
1. Helicopter tour of Na Pali coast - Try Inter-Island helicopter. They fly around the island with out doors on the helicopter, it's incredible.

2. Poli Hale beach - On the extreme west side of the island. It's huge, usually empty, and secluded.
3. Drive a convertible. Kauai is a convertible island.

Take a guided kayak trip along the NaPali coast. You start at Ke'e Beach and end up at Polihale. It is supposed to be fairly strenuous.
Pick up a good guide book like Kaua'i Revealed. It lists lots and lots of adventures.
As others have said, the island is fairly small, so it is easy to get around. Traffic in Lihue and Kapa'a slow you down though.

NaPali and various hike, kayaking, ATV, Zip lines, tubing, bodysurfing, boogie boards....
Traffic on Kauai can sometimes be a ((&)) but where better than to be stuck in traffic?
Type "Kauai" in the "search text" and you will get a lot of good info.
Just beware of humourless K9s who have been known to lurk about.

I definitely think you'll find plenty of outdoor adventure there, I'm off to Kauai in 12 days and will be sure to post a report when I return!
I second the recommendation on the Kauai revealed book, it lists more to do that can ever be accomplished in 4 days. You'll probably find a lot of good suggestions in there
