Bill, Whoa! Gotta set the record straight, here. First time I have ever been referred to as a "sistah", but I can understand why, I guess. (Not sure my wife would be amused, though....). In any event, I am looking to reading that trip report of yours... looks like it is now posted! You didn't waste any time. By the way, it was due to your glowing recommendation that I picked up a pair of Keen H2 sandals, and your advice on this was good, and appreciated. 1st time out, I went for a 2 mile walk on a gravel road, and returned blister-free. Welcome back! /Ren

I loved using my keens all over Hawaii but I must admit I did appreciate the stronger support of a hiking boot on strenuous hikes, Kalalau, awaawapuhi, canyon trail. I have low rise and high rise hiking boots and if you do more than one strenuous hike in a week I think you will want the high ankle hiking boots. I found I wish I had them on me on this last trip with many hikes packed into itinerary. Just my thought.
