jen24...From CNN....
"Of course, anyone who is planning to go to the impacted airports will not be going there, and other than that the system seems to be working fairly well," said Kathleen Bergen, an FAA spokeswoman for the Southern region that includes Mississippi and Alabama.
Engine generators are powering equipment hit by widespread power and phone outages, Bergen said.
Temporary flight restrictions over New Orleans and the Alabama and Mississippi coastlines are in effect, limiting air traffic to rescue and relief operations. Those restrictions are in effect until further notice.
Hope this helps

jen, I have heard from family and friends in Pensacola and all is well although some still don't have power. Destin is further east so I'm sure they'll be up and running by Labor Day. I hope you have a great stay and that the weather cooperates (meaning no hurricanes!).

I understand power is back in Destin. Stores are open, schools are back in and hwy. 98 is open. Sounds like it should be a go for this weekend but you still may want to call you rental agent to make sure your rental is ok.
