Kapalua Beach Hotel
Would you stay here or the Hyatt for the end of December/beginning of January?
We want a NICE place on a NICE beach whwere we can snorkel. We do not have children. We do not golf. These seem to be only two options for planning a trip this late for that time of year.
I have read that Kapalua is very windy and rainy this time of year. PLEASE tell me HOW rainy/windy? I mean, are the chances great that our time there would not be nice? Should we take the Hyatt and risk more activities and loud children and disney park feel for the better weather? How much better?
THANK YOU for all help.

Have stayed at the Kapalua Bay Hotel and thought it was wonderful! The setting is very natural and beautiful, has a charming old-hawaiian feel to it...great snorkeling in the bay right there. I understand your concerns about the weather. We were there in the spring so it wasn't as big a deal. If it were me, I would take the chance...it's so beautiful up there rain or shine that it would be worth it to me. You can always drive to a sunny spot 10 minutes away if it's a problem...
However, I understand the Hyatt is a lovely property as well. Kaanapali beach just isn't our bag...

from what you've written, i would not even step foot on kaanapali. you can't predict the weather, we just had a hurricane at kapalua this weekend (ok, it passed near the big island, but it rained). it was still wonderful. you will hate the hyatt. please trust me!

Shari,
You will NOT hate this Hyatt. Trust me. It is a luxurious hotel with great pools and great service. Yes, there will probably be more kids there and it is not as quiet as the Kapalua Bay, but it is still very nice. My husband and I stayed there for 4 nights for our honeymoon and we thought it was great. And we have stayed at some very nice hotels all over the country and the world.

We stayed @ Kapalua Bay Hotel last November - thought it was terrific. We had great weather and the beach was beautiful. However, I know the Hyatt is a great property, nicer pool etc. I don't think you can go wrong either way - enjoy!

Shari - I just wanted to make sure that you have the name right if you check in to further info. There is a Kaanapali Beach Hotel on Kaanapali Beach next to the Sheraton at Blackrock (Best part of the beach) it is on the other end of Kaanapali Beach from the Hyatt. Also there is a Kapalua Bay Hotel on Kapalua Bay. Further west from Kaanapali. Hope this helps.
