Kap Hotel Amsterdam

Has anyone stayed in Kap Hotel, what is a reasonable price for one night's accomodation for a double room?

You might want to re-post on the europe board instead of united states.

But since I happen to have stayed at Hotel Kap, I'll reply! I'm not sure I understand the question though. There are several types of rooms, some with shared toilets, which are cheaper. A nice breakfast is included in room prices. I booked directly with the hotel myself. So I guess I'd consider a "reasonable price" whatever they have posted on their website.

Thanks Suze,

I realised after I posted the message that I should have posted on the europe board...I have just started to use this site!

Thanks for your reply, the hotel has quoted me $130 US for a room with two beds joined together and private shower and wc. Breakfast is included also. Can you please advise me if the location is safe and close to the train station?

It is on a very pretty quiet street and in a safe neighborhood (near the Leidseplein district). It is not particularly close to the train station, you'd need to take a taxi or a tram. Instead I used the Connexxion hotel bus that goes direct to/from the airport.

Quite honestly, it is kind of a funky hotel and I'd give it neither a negative or a glowing review. It was adequate. The breakfast room and food served is very very nice IMO. The people staying there were mostly European. The owner was reasonably friendly and helpful. They won my vote, when I found they had bottles of cold white wine available for purchase, that I took up to my room (they opened it for me and gave me a glass).

p.s. Welcome to Fodors!

simma- i meant to include the comment that i think it's a postive thing that the hotel is not near the train station. i found that most central part of the city not terribly attractive. it's much more appealing IMO out near Vondelpark, the museums, Leidseplein, etc.
