We have booked accommodations in Maui for one month in February for our whole family. However, we are arriving one day ahead of our reservations and plan to stay overnight in Kahului and plan to pick up the rest of our family at the airport next day and travel to our destination.

I would appreciate recommendations for one night accommodation in Kahului. A nice Hotel, Motel, or B&B is also OK.

There's no need to overnight in Kahului unless you WANT to spend some time sightseeing on that side of the island. It's only 20 minutes from Kahului to Kihei/Wailea. The Maui Coast Hotel in South Kihei would be a good option. If you do want to stay east side, there is a new Marriott Courtyard in Kahului. There's the Paia Inn. There's Mama's Fish House Cottages.

Thank you for you comments ChiSue. We prefer to stay in Kahului because our flight arrives very late at night and no doubt we will be dead tired and will not wish to drive any distance at night. I checked Marriott Courtyard, it's a nice place to stay but is a bit expensive (best available rate at $385 per night). We might have to settle on this but I was hoping for something in the $250 to $300 range.

I checked Paia Inn and Mama's Fish House and both are possible. They seem to be nice and the rates are more reasonable. Any other places close to the airport?

It's 20 minutes to Kihei or to Paia, so that's not worth the drive (if you must stay overnight in Kahului). The Maui Beach Hotel is in a good location in Kahului, has free breakfast and parking, and is less than $100.

We spent one night at the Maui Beach Hotel a few years ago and it was just fine for what we needed. It was a bit dated, but run by nice people and they seemed to try to make the stay as pleasant as possible.

There are two older, motel-type places in Kahului: Maui Beach Hotel and Maui Seaside. They are not on any 'beach', just in town. Some people book one if they have to be out of their hotel or condo early and have a late flight out of OGG.

*I* would push on to Kihei -- 20 minutes tops, all on four lane highway. We frequently arrive late, coming in from Chicago. We're on island January and February most years. It's nice to feel you are 'really there' right away -- but if your family arrives early the next morning, I can see staying in town.

If it were me, I'd stay at the Old Wailuku Inn or the Maui Beach Hotel that has been already mentioned. Kihei might be around 20 away, but it seems counter-intuitive to do drive there and back.

Maui Beach hotel was also my first thought. Why spend time and money on a late night arrival, when you have a month ahead of you. I don't see the value in traveling to Kihei and back with no time to enjoy the accomadations outside your 4 walls. Old Wailuku is an interesting suggestion that I had not thought of.
