Kaanapali -which hotel?
we haven't been here for over 6 years and can't decide which hotel! i believe marriot is going timeshare so that's not an option, true? we stayed at westin last time- it was nice but not memorable. how about sheraton or hyatt? we stayed at kaanapli beach hotel on our honeymoon many years ago but haven't heard much about it lately. don't really want a condo yet that's what the freinds we're going with are doing

Hey toncasmo:
You can stay at The Ka anapili Alii condos for the same $$$ that you would spend at the Hyatt. They have a website www.kaanapalialii.com. The beach and grounds are great. We stayed in one of their 2br premier units on the ocean. You will really enjoy this place.

We loved the pool at the Marriott and got a rate on the one br suite. It had a kitchen area, queen size sofa and two bathrooms. This summer we are staying at the Ali'i and for about the same price. I found a great rate on VRBO. It has an ocean view but its not ocean front and sleeps 6.

We were just in Maui for our first time over Christmas and we really had a hard time trying to decide in which hotel to stay. We decided on the Hyatt and loved it. While it doesn't have the beach area that you'll find in front of the Sheraton (Black Rock), the grounds were beautiful and we loved the pool area. We found it spacious and the staff was very friendly. We will definitely stay there again when we go back and are staying in the Kaanapali area.

We just got home from Maui this morning...we stayed at the Hyatt and were very pleased. The rooms were well appointed, the common areas were beautiful, the food was outstanding in every restaurant, and the shops offered almost as much variety as Whalers Village. I will work on my trip report in a few days...

We also stayed at the Marriott and loved it. I would highly recommend it, particularly if you have children. They have a pirate ship with water slide, etc. that even toddlers can enjoy. And several other waterslides throughout the large pool. It was beautiful.
The room, 1 br suite w/ kitchen, was very nice also. And, you can have a massage in a cabana by the ocean!
Happy planning!

We loved the Sheraton. Clean, great staff, well-kept facility, fabulous pool & beach, & great food. It is also walking distance to the Whaler's Village & The Hula Grill( a favorite sunset eating/meeting place). We would definitely return. It also has public transportation to Lahaina, if you don't want to deal with finding a parking spot.
