Kaanapali Beach and Wailea for 3 days each

My boyfriend and I are going to Maui for 6 days, the first week of December. We have been told to go to the Old Lahaina Luau, drive the road to Hana, and take a snorkeling tour through Trilogy. Any other suggestions? We are in our late 20s and want to experience as much of Hawaii as we can in this short amount of time! We are staying at the Westin in Kaanapali Beach and the Grand Wailea. Also, we are spending an additional day in Oahu at the Hyatt Waikiki, so any suggestions for that area would be great as well. Thanks!!

I am unsure if you are aware although the Westin Maui on Kaanapali Beach will still be under a major renovation during the first week of December this year.

December 15, 2000: The rooms will have completed a renovation.

December 22, 2000: The steps to the Oahu pool will have been replaced, and the Aloha Pavillion will be done as well.

Jim,
Thanks for the info. Do you think these renovations would have a big negative impact on our trip? We will be at the Westing Nov 29 - Dec 2.

Melissa-

Great choice for a trip! My husband and I recently got back from Maui and Kauai on our honeymoon. It was the BEST trip of my life. No islands compare! We stayed in Maui for 6 days at the Hyatt in Kaanapali Beach. Yes, your hotel is going under major construction. The Hyatt was great! We stayed at them on both islands. When you are in Maui eat at Mama's Fish House . The Old Lahaina Luau was lots of fun as was the road to Hana. We went snorkeling on our own in many parts of the island. Snorkel Black Rock when you are staying in Kaanapali Beach since it is right in front of the Sheraton near your hotel. Have fun!!

I don't think that the renovations will really have a negative impact on your trip. The rooms still will probably have minor constructions going on at the time, as will some of the areas in the resort. There is said to be some noise affiliated with the construction that will be going on at the resort when your there. In addition, the Grand Wailea I think will be a great resort to stay at with all the pools, and other features, it also is located on a great beach.

Any more questions please ask. Also, you might want to call the Westin Maui directly for more information. I personally don't think the renovations will have a very negative impact on your trip since there isn't supposed to be a lot of noise with them. Although if you want to stay somewhere with no renovations at all then you might want to consider staying somewhere other then the Westin Maui.

We did not see any renovations going on at the westin the only const that we seen was where we stayed at the marriott next door & we had to use the westins pool. We were there 11/14-11/21/2000 the westin is a very nice hotel but we got a great rate at the marriott(104.00 night). I would pick 1 place to stay if you are only going for 6 days & not lose 1/2-1 day ckecking in & out of hotels. Wailea area quiter & hotter,Ka'annapali area closer to Lahaina & not as hot(Lahaina is the action town.)Better book the old Lahaina luau now it usually books up 1-2 weeks in advance.

Sorry my wife just reminded me that the westin is constructing a new restaurant on the north side I believe but did not look to be much of a problem.

Definitely do the volcano bike down trip. My kids did the morning trip, the trip included hotel pickup at 7am, they thoroughly enjoyed the bike ride and the van brought them back to our hotel at 2:30.
We enjoyed Old Lahaina luau and Hana. The oceanfront walkway in Wailea is great.
I hope you dont lose too much time checking in /checking out of hotels. We stayed 7 days at Renaissance Wailea and loved being in 1 place.
