Just returned from Acadia/Bar Harbor

Just a few quick comments.

Even in August, there are plenty of quiet places, once you get off the loop road.

There's just nothing better than lobster at a lobster pound. We've tried Beals, but prefer Trenton Bridge, on Rt 3 just before Mount Desert Island.

If you like bakery breakfasts, Morning Glory Bakery (on Rodick(?)) is the place to go. Everything we had there was really good. They also make great sandwiches to pack along on hikes.

I think it's been wetter than usual this summer. Didn't have any rain last week, but there were lots of muddy places on trails. It's usually dusty this time of year.

I'll probably thing of more, but that's all for now.

Planning this trip for next summer with three kids. Where did you stay and did you like it? What did you do, how long did you stay? Any good restaurant advice? Thanks

This was our 5th trip to Acadia. We mostly spend our time hiking, and usually spend about a week there. We stay at one of the rustic, old-fashioned cabin-motels on Rt 3 just before you get to town.

Restaurants we tried and liked:
Cafe this way
Miquels
Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound
Lompock brew pub

Elmiller - we stayed at the Cadillac Motor Inn. Stayed in one of the apratments - two rooms and a kitchen. Just a couple of blocks from the center of town. Rates increase quite a bit on July 1, so if you can get there before, you will save (we were there end of June and weather was fine).

We stayed 3 days. Ate lobster every dinner - doesn't make too much difference in town as everyone has about the same deal.

I'm going in a couple of weeks. You say that the lobster dinner prices were the same - what was it? It'd be great to know for budgeting!
