Anchorage Food
Two questions. We arrive Saturday nite and until we pick up rental, I figure it will be around 10PM. Would appreciate a few suggestions where we could get a pizza/sandwich and beer at that hour. We are staying downtown. Also Sunday morning, a suggestion for a light breakfast downtown before we head to Denali. thanks!

I agree, Moose's Tooth with a beer sampler to share.
You might want a heartier breakfast. Keep in mind that once you get past Wasilla, about an hour north of Anchorage, you have about zero choices of places to stop until you get to Talkeetna. We always had bottled water in the back seat.

No 100% positive that they are open for breakfast, but a good probablity that they are. Ate dinner there once and liked the moderate prices, casual atmosphere and varied menu.

There are other fun places like, Humpy's downtown Anchorage (casual dining in a pub-like atmosphere and excellent fish tacos), Orsos (downtown) Italian and a bit more upscale, Marx Brothers downtown if you want to go pretty fancy, and Sullivans downtown (steak and seafood) with a jazz piano in the martini bar if you prefer that. There are lots of good places to eat in Anchorage, don't limit yourself to the Moose's Tooth, I was very disappointed the last time I was there. The customer service was awful!

For breakfast, Gwennie's is an old-time, old-school favorite. It's a bacon & eggs kind of place, but try a crab omelet or have some reindeer sausage.
Not fancy in the least. . .a bit of a greasy spoon with Alaskana charm.
