Just back from Las Vegas- saw Zumanity

We were in Vegas for a friend's wedding last weekend so the bachelorette and I went and saw Zumanity at the NYNY. I hadn't heard much of anything on the show as far as reviews but knew that it was a show about sexual fantasties and fetishes.

WOW!!! We loved it. The show is HOT. There is something for everyone as long as you are really open to the cast exploring sex. Girl on girl, guy on guy, girl on guy, S&M, bondage and a final orgy.

This isn't family Cirque. It's more about theatrical presentations than pretty circus acts. I've seen 4 other Cirque shows and this is just completely different. If you are looking for a new version of Mystere or O this isn't it. But if you are looking for a cross of old vegas topless show spiced up big time with some 21st century "let's explore sex roles" this is it!

The theater is very small and intimate, you choose your seats- bar stools, love seats or theater chairs. There are 4 bars and you can drink your martinis during the show. It's all about the adults (you have to be 18 to get tickets).

We saw MANY very uncomfortable people sitting around us. Not to sterotype but to try to describe, they looked like 40+ year old couples/parents from the midwest. They weren't happy with the sex scenes being acted out on stage. Let me ask this....why were they there?? Tickets are $85+ each. Did they not view the trailor on the website or do any research? I didn't feel bad for them, I thought... 'they saw Cirque in the title and just bought tickets instead of deciding what they had interest in or not'.

Anyway, I'll take my husband next time we are in LV and I'll recommend this to anyone who is looking to be a voyeur for an evening. My suggestion.... dinner, then the show, then you'll probably want to get back to your hotel room immediately after!

I'm glad you enoyed the show.
Unfortunately the market for this show appears to be unexpectedly(?) small. The majority of showgoers in LV who will shell out $80-100 for a ticket are not in the under-25 age range.
A close friend of mine who works for the resort recently told me the show has been viewed unfavorable by management (only looking at profitability, of course). Don't know what that implies.

Ted that is really too bad. We are not in the under 25 group either (mid 30's). And when I was trying to get tickets the shows were very close to selling out.

Loki, if possible get tickets as center as you can in the first section.

I am going to see it on June 18 with three friends going out there on a girls trip. We have tickets for Mystere and O as well on Sat. and Sun. evenings. We are all 50 and from the Midwest!!!! I have read enough about it and seen some previews so I think we know what we are getting into. Of course we are leaving husbands at home so we won't need to hurry back to the room! I am looking forward to Mystere and O more but Zumanity does sound like it will be a different experience so I am going to keep an open mind.

Oh, I wouldn't be so sure about that, Jet519...I suspect somebody in that part might very well be rushing back to the room husband along or not!

Obviously, there has been a fair amount of discussion about Zuamanity, much of it critical of the homo-erotic themes expressed in some of the numbers. As near as I can figure, this show started out with quite a bit of emphasis on this aspect of sexuality, and received more than a bit of negative feedback as a result. Like all such shows (and perhaps more so than most), Zumanity seems to be constantly changing and since it has been such a controversial show, I thought I'd add my feedback to the mix.

We saw the show a couple of weeks back and I have to admit we both (my wife and I) liked it a lot. It is admittedly probably our least favorite of the 3 Cirque shows that we've seen, (mainly because it was not quite as spectacular as the other shows, not because of the subject matter) but nevertheless quite good. For those of you who care, there are really only 2 homo-erotic numbers (one man/man, one woman/woman) and the woman/woman number (done in a giant bowl of water) was very graceful and really quite beautiful - although I have to admit that like most men, my comfort level with a "2 women" scenario is a bit higher than one with "2 men" (even if we are good friends with a gay couple). I should mention also that the MC of the show was a man in drag (for those who care). Still, I found the show really not all that shocking and for the most part was similar to the other Cirque shows I've seen - though with an obvious adult twist. There was actually less nudity than I expected. As in many Vegas shows, much of the sexuality is played for laughs.

Mind you, this show is still not for everyone (it is a sexually-themed show afterall), but in general, I think that it has metamorphized enough that most folks with an open mind will probably enjoy it. I mean, lets face it folks, Vegas IS known as "Sin City" so you shouldn't be surprised at some sexual content. In any event, it certainly seemed like the full-house at the performance we attended liked the show a great deal.

For what it's worth, that's my take.

Ken

We are a 50-ish couple originally from the Midwest and have tickets to see Zumanity in a few weeks. I'm looking forward to it!
