Jurys Hotel in DuPont Circle or??
Have booked into the Jurys Hotel in DuPont Circle for myself and adult daughter for June. Does anyone have any input as to the hotel and the area around it. My daughter would like to find a bit of nightlife in the hotel or nearby. We are both looking for good restaurants in the area and suggestions would be appreciated. We can move on to another hotel if recommended (cost is not a big deal but would like to stay close to the $125.00 a nite that Jurys is charging us).

I have not stayed there but friends did and found it to be fine. I have stayed in the neighborhood and can sy it is my favorite area of the city. There are plenty of good restaurants (try Kramerbooks for b'fast). For a decent Italian meal (red checked table cloths and all) go to Famous Luigis on 19th (?) St. There are plenty of good places to eat however I wouldn't know a thing about the night life. It seems like from wht I have read, the Adams-Morgan neighborhood might have what you are looking for. Have fun!

This is a really late answer, but there's also a Starbucks within sight of the hotel. We are staying there later this month on recommendation of a friend in DC. We've stayed in the Dupont area before and I think, for my taste and in my opinion, that it's the best area of the city to stay in.

Thanks for reply that still comes before our Tuesday departure. All advice welcome right up til our 3AM departure (groan) on the 4th. Hotel and area are sounding fine. Does anyone know about Sesto Senso either for dinner or late nite clubbing (like can I send my adult daughter off on her own there after 11PM equipped with cab fare and still be able to get a good nights sleep for myself??)

Not really one to like much at breakfast, I found a bagel shop on P street across the street from the Radisson Barcelo that was an OK place for a quick A.M. pick-me-up, very reasonable prices. Plenty of food choices in that area anyway. Saw a "diner" (so it's sign read) across from the Summerfield Suites, just S of DuPont Circle, but didn't check that out.
Aside, if u are staying more than 3 days, consider getting the 7 day Metro Pass ($17). Although it's good at ALL Metro hours (unlike the 1 day pass-$5), during rush hours it's only good for the first $1.75 of the fare- you'd have to pay the excess when exiting. We never went far enough during those hours to have to pay any extra. (remove x in my eddress to reply directly)

Your hotel, IMHO, is located in one of the greatest parts of the city. You could stay completely within a few blocks and have an excellent vacation indeed.
All of the following are on or near Connecticut Avenue, north of Dupont Circle: For breakfast or lunch, Luna Grill & Diner (1301 Connecticut Ave),
Teaism (2009 R St) or my favorite, Cafe Midi Cuisine (1635 Connecticut
Ave) You choose your food on the first floor, then take it upstairs to eat.
My favorite place for dinner is Bistrot du Coin (1738 Connecticut Ave.) As close as you can get to an authentic French bistro in DC. Steak frites! A short distance away is La Tomate (1701 Connecticut Ave), fairly traditional Italian. Buca di Beppo (1825 Connecticut Ave) is also nearby People either love it or hate it. It's definitely an experience. Johnny's Half Shell (2002 P St.) very close to your hotel, has great seafood. All are moderately priced.
Can't help with nightlife, other than to recommend that you check out the listings in the Washington Post, in print or online.
While you're in the area, whether you're a museum type or not, don't miss a short walk to the Phillips Collection, one of the finest small museums in the country It has a strong permanent collection and beautifully presented special exhibitions as well.

Teaism's the best place for breakfast (french toast to die for). Luna is good, but can get very crowded, so have an alternative lined up. La Tomate is very very average. They live on their location, not their food. Johnny Half Shell is terrific. I find Buca to be a pretty standard chain restaurant.
For good beer and sandwiches, try the Brickskellar. Ask for directions at the hotel.

Thank you one and all who gave me such good advice. In only 6 hours we are off (3AM) for the airport and have everything printed up to study further on the way. Glad to have the Metro advice since I would probably just have bought daily fares and the 7 day (even for 5 days) makes much more sense. So glad this forum exists and so many respond to it. Judy
