journey's end or grey gardens
leaving sunday for east coast and haven't booked theatre tix thru broadwaybox.com yet. Journey's End is in previews and Grey Gardens intrigues me. anyone seen journey's end yet or heard buzz? i prefer involving drama and am considering grey gardens because it sounds like there's a real involving story and it's not a light musical. watched the documentary and it's certainly interesting. any comments? or other suggestions?

Wish I could help; leaving for NYC in a couple of hours and will be seeing both this weekend but unfortunately won't be able to post again until after you've made your decision.
You might want to look at Neo's recent post about seven nights in NYC.

thanks, i had seen neo's post but it didn't have a lot to say about grey gardens and journey's end hadn't opened in previews. it was a shot in the dark that anyone would have more to say or had heard buzz on journey's end while in previews. but you never know the gems you will find on this board!!!

We saw Grey Gardens last night..it is anything BUT a "light musical." Tragic, sad story...very dramatic and Christine Ebersole has to be seen.
We don't do Journey's End until this afternoon but I cannot imagine it would be better than this.

grey gardens was, indeed, excellent. more of a dramatic musical and we enjoyed it immensely. got excellent seats thru broadwaybox.com. journey's end was also very good -- but not for anyone looking for anything light. a real war drama.

I only know Journey's End from working the production in college -- not this production, but it is a long very "talky" story taking place in the trenches of World War I. It has gotten good reviews in London and people like it, but I'd vote for Grey's Gardens hands down.
