Jobs in Travel Industry?
I simply cannot afford to travel as much as I'd like to. Any ideas or info on working within the travel industry?

Work for the airlines...lots of buddy passes and free flights for you and your immediate family. Might try Southwest or Jet Blue. They are the only two carriers that aren't laying off.

you might get some travel perks if you work in the industry, but you'll probably make a whole lot less money.

Buddy passes suck if you have to pay 10% of the full fare (USAir for one) and the airlines aren't hiring. Hotel Management pays well and if you get into conference sales, there is usually a lot of travel involved.
