January Travel Suggestions

We are two Texas gal pals in our early 60's are looking for a warm US spot to travel in January. We are not necessary looking for beach spot, but love sightseeing of all types, and shopping. Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

San Diego is usually my 'go to' winter destination. Great sightseeing, mild weather, terrific shopping . . .

We like Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and Palm Springs in January. There is much to do and the weather is usually pleasant. We also like Saguaro National Park, Sabino Canyon, and Mount Lemmon in Tuscon and the less populated part of Arizona south of Tuscon.

My favorite spots in the US in January so far have been: New Orleans, Savannah, Charleston, Key West. The first three most typically require a sweater and jacket but were still comfortable for exploring, mostly in the 50s or 60s F, although I've had a few nice days hovering near the 70s. Key West actually had one day where sweater and jacket were good to have when I was there, but other days were in the upper 70s/low 80s.

Thanks all! Have been to San Diego in January, and weather was great. Have been thinking about Charleston and Savannah but was unsure of the January weather. Guess you never know about the weather in January.

We go to Hilton Head every year in January and the weather is usually nice-sometimes we have had 70s, but more days in the 60s. Hilton Head is about 2 hours from Charleston-one hour from Savannah. We like Hilton Head for walking on the beach and riding bikes. There are lots of restaurants. You can get good deals on condos in the off season.
