OK, that is what I figured about the Southend as I could not find much info. I have numbers for all these places and was going to call to check on them. The Women's Brewing shows that it is on Lema Lane. Going to call them too. Will post with details regarding these places in case others want to know.
Plan on visiting A1A.

"Opinions on the best beaches on the coast from Daytona up to Savannah?"
Crescent Beach is the best of the St. Augustine area beaches. To find it, look for the intersection of A1A and SR 206 and then find the public access about 2 blocks south.
"Oh, and opinions on best local food and seafood in these areas. "
Again, in the St. Augustine area:
Osteens (for shrimp). Don't let the exterior appearance discourage you. IMO, they have the best shrimp in town.
Other seafood restaurants I like include The Reef. I disagree with their so-so Tripadvisor reviews. I ate here on Fathers' Day and their Sunday brunch was fabulous!
Other good restaurants that serve some seafood entrees are
Gypsy Cab Co., Purple Olive and Collage. The last one is strictly a special occasion restaurant and priced accordingly. It is magnificent!, but not cheap. Read my review here: http://www.fodors.com/world/north-am...ew-447746.html

Is this place worth a visit and is it the real place that was thought to be the fountain of youth?

Re the Fountain of Youth in St. Augustine:
Have not been to this. Have done some research on the attractions in this city, though, and what I've seen suggests that:
--this may not really be the "fountain of youth" site, though that depends on which source you read and believe.
--the attraction is considered a tourist trap by at least some travel writers.
--the water there smells and tastes terrible.
Whether the place merits a visit, I can't say.

"Is this place worth a visit"
Let's say this. It's not in my list of top 10 things to see in St. Augustine.
"is it the real place that was thought to be the fountain of youth?"
Only Ponce (De Leon) knows for sure!
I did visit there years ago and had a drink of water from the fountain of youth. It's pretty hard to notice any lasting benefits now.

Just returned from a week on Amelia Island. It is definitely worth a visit. The downtown area is cute, but small and very walk able. If you like distilleries in addition to breweries, there is a very good craft distillery called Marlin and Barrel downtown next to the Maritime Museum. On the beach side of the island, Slider's was our favorite restaurant.
We had a very late day flight and drove down near St. Augustine to the World Golf Hall of Fame. If you are interested in golf, it is a nice visit.
