Don. The weather in Jackson and surrounding areas mentioned should finishing up Winter and well into Spring. However, that said, I can also tell you with confidence, that the weather at this tims of years is un-predictable. You could experience a week of balmy Spring weather or could also experience a significant Winter Storm and several inches of snow. It is hard to say. On balance, I would say the weather should be comfortable, but quite cool yet at night. Ski Resorts if not closed by this week will be getting close to it. Most outdoor activities and horse back riding should be no problem. Hiking should be no problem too, but you will still find lots of snow in the high country. All in all you should be OK, but plan for cold weather to be safe. The good thing is you will be a few weeks ahead of the crowds.

Does anyone out there know what the difference is between Jackson and Jackson Hole? Is it true that the city is Jackson, which is physically located in Jackson Hole, the valley?

Jackson Hole is the valley, bordered on one side by the Grand Tetons and the other by the Gros Ventre range. When fur trapping was actually a way to make a living, a fur trapper's "Hole" was the area in which he worked. The area known was Jackson's Hole is the valley surrounding the town. It has of course come to be known simply as Jackson Hole.

The town is officially known only as Jackson. The town is also much smaller than you would think. Several of the outlying populated areas are, although next to the town, not part of the incorporate town of Jackson.

As a sometime resident of Jackson, I beg all visitors to refer to the town and the valley properly. I can tell you that nothing grates on residents more than to hear someone say Jackson Hole over and over again when referring to the town.
